Mr Bidwai
Consultant Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon
Mr Bidwai is a consultant in shoulder and elbow surgery working at BMI The BMI Lincoln and Park Hospitals. His NHS base is King’s Mill and Newark Hospitals. Prior to this he had completed post-CCT fellowship training in South Tees Hospitals under Prof Amar Rangan. Additionally, he has completed the Liverpool Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and advanced fellowship training in upper limb surgery at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital.
Mr Bidwai graduated from the University of Manchester in 2002. Following this he underwent his basic surgical training in London, Essex, Manchester and Oxford regions. During this period, he won the AO Trauma Research Prize for his work in ankle fractures.
He subsequently completed orthopaedic training in Cheshire and Merseyside and was awarded Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2012. During his training in the UK, he was awarded the prestigious travelling fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association and the International Bone Research Association to obtain additional training in upper limb surgery plus shoulder / elbow surgery at centres of excellence such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the Mayo clinic.
Mr Bidwai also maintains a strong interest in education and research. He has completed a Postgraduate qualification in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice and previously ran the teaching program within the Liverpool Upper Limb Unit. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals and presented at many national and international surgical meetings. He peer-reviews journal articles for the Bone and Joint Journal and Shoulder and Elbow. He has co-authored the national guidelines for the management of Shoulder Osteoarthritis.
He has responsibilities at national level within the British Shoulder and Elbow Society for the development of rating for Shoulder prosthesis quality and longevity - Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel or ODEP.
